As our Financial Controller, you will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. You will play a key role in financial planning, cash‑flow management, and supporting the executive team with financial insights to drive strategic decision‑making.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the company’s financial operations, including accounting, reporting, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions (Canada, US, Europe, and Latin America).
• Ensure compliance with ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises) and manage the preparation and consolidation of financial statements.
• Develop and maintain financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
• Supervise tax compliance (VAT, sales tax, and corporate tax) and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors during the year‑end audit/review process.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgets, and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Monitor cash‑flow and implement best practices for working‑capital management.
• Provide financial insights to senior leadership, supporting data‑driven decision‑making.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing finance team, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Collaborate with multiple departments at Planned to enhance, optimise, and streamline operational processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a finance department (Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, Controller), preferably in a high‑growth tech company, marketplace, or SaaS environment.
• CPA designation (or equivalent) is required.
• Strong knowledge of ASPE and experience managing financial operations with multiple entities and multi‑currency consolidation.
• Experience with financial reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls.
• Proficiency in financial systems, QuickBooks, and Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and strategic thinking skills. Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop teams.
• Experience with fundraising, M&A, or investor relations is a plus.
