Job description

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs safety auditing using E-test as per required quotas on a weekly basis
  • Schedule lift equipment and hostler maintenance.
  • Schedule and monitor CVI inspections on the intermodal chassis fleet;
  • Schedule maintenance, repairs and retirement on the container fleet;
  • Ensure maintenance and repairs of all equipment is performed in accordance of manufacturer’s recommendations, AAR Rules & Regulations, Federal & Provincial Laws of Canada and the Federal Highway Act of the United States;
  • Monitor that PM sheets are completed and Equipment is maintained according to OEM standards
  • Monitors PPS pretripping in relation to requirements and escalates to ensure requirements are completed
  • Ensure the company’s environmental policies are being adhered to and that wastes are disposed of in accordance with CPR’s, federal and provincial standards;
  • Ensure that all contractors working on CPR’s behalf have the required experience, qualifications and licenses to perform their duties in their respective fields;
  • Investigate all damage claims to chassis, generator sets, containers with a view to improving work procedures and minimizing damage to equipment;
  • Ensure any intent to claim for damage recovery by third party companies are handled in a timely manner;
  • Ensure contractors perform their work within the safety guidelines set forth by CPKC;
  • Process maintenance related invoices and audit invoices as required;
  • Works with Asset Management and Supply Services on asset strategies and RFP proposals.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-Secondary Certificate or Degree related to Mechanical, Maintenance, or Engineering is desirable
  • Strong Mechanical background is required.
  • Journeyman Certification in Maintenance of Road or Off-road equipment is desirable
  • Management or Supervisor experience in Maintenance of equipment required, minimum of 5 years
  • Understanding of Intermodal Operations or trucking logistics is desirable
  • Computer skills – Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Access, SAP, Oasis, TMS, Power Point;
  • Familiar with Commercial Vehicle inspection regulations;
  • Familiar with Standard maintenance procedures of Heavy Equipment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with contractor supervisors, personnel and all CPKC employees;
  • Ability to maintain healthy communication relationships with the various suppliers.
