Overview :
Our client is a multi-trade contractor and manufacturer based out of Hamilton. With a reputation based on providing top-of-class products and successfully executing quality projects, they are looking to add a highly experienced Mechanical Estimator to their team.
Here’s what you’ll do :
- Develop estimates and budgets for all bids, design / build, and maintenance proposals. Including material prices, labour costs and equipment based on drawings and specifications for proposal submission.
- Undertake pre-construction development, including project scope and critical path scheduling, and identify the associated risks / issues.
- Request and evaluate sub-trade proposals and ensure accuracy and conformance to project plans and specifications.
- Work with Project Managers in planning the construction phase and prepare a construction schedule using Microsoft Project.
- Review incoming and outgoing bid request(s).
- Source new bid opportunities using online platforms such as Bids and Tenders, Biddingo, Merx, Ariba, Bonfire, etc.
- Be a resource for Project Managers during the construction project phase.
- Assists in establishing project benchmarks and target costs, responsible for forecasting and analysis.
- Provides input to the project execution team, participate in hand-over and close-out meetings.
- Review all tender documentation and drawings.
- Conduct quantity take-off estimates based on engineering drawings and specifications to compute labour and material costs to support budget development and change management.
- Participate in all prequalification proposal submissions.
- Attend pre-bid meetings / site visits to confirm scope of work and proposal submission requirements.
- Reviews all bid packages before submission.
Here’s what you’ll need to be successful :
At least 7 years’ experience with Mechanical estimating in the Construction and / or Service industry.Relevant trade license (Ex : HVAC, Gas Fitter, Millwright, Plumber), Construction, or Mechanical Engineering Diploma or Degree completion10 or more years' experience in the Construction and / or Service industry.Experience with project management and / or site supervision is an asset.Excellent computer skills including MS Office Suite (highly proficient with Excel and Project). Proficiency with Accubid is required for this role.Thorough understanding of corporate and industry construction practices, processes, standards, and their impact on project activities within Ontario.Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings.Excellent communication interpersonal skills.Strong time management and organizational skills with a proven track record of meeting defined deadlines.Ability to pivot according to project and business needs.Ability to work in office.Here’s what in it for you :
