Description of the Project OpportunityFCC Canada is looking for a Design Manager to join the Cross-Fraser Partnership.The Cross Fraser Partnership team that will collaborate with the Province through the development phase is comprised of Bouygues Construction Canada Inc.
Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas Canada Ltd., and Pomerleau BC Inc.The Fraser River Tunnel Project includes a new, eight-lane immersed tube tunnel that will replace the existing George Massey Tunnel on Highway 99.
The new tunnel will have three vehicle lanes and a dedicated transit lane in each direction, with a separate active transportation corridor for cyclists and pedestrians.
The project also includes replacing the Deas Slough Bridge and decommissioning of the existing tunnel once the new immersed tube tunnel is in operation.
The Design Manager key responsibilities are : In charge of managing engineering activities, from preliminary design to the construction phase, with a focus on risk management, easements, permits and approvals, technical feasibility, adherence to design standards, constructability, and incorporating lessons learned.
Help in ensuring successful integrated delivery of projects by working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment, including working closely with our global resources.
Assists with the preparation and review of drawings, reports, and contract documents.Oversees constructability reviews of all design and contract packages before tender, responsible for coordinating the final QA / QC review of all tender packages.
Will be supported by discipline leads and a team of professionals who will prepare all submissions promptly.Provide support during tender periods and be responsible for providing prompt answers to all questions received from suppliers in addition to managing any revisions required to tender documents.
Liaises with internal and external staff, outside agencies, contractors, consultants, and the public on construction projects and provides technical information.
Build mutually respectful and constructive relationships with project management teams, clients, and front-line workers.Education and QualificationsA bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
A minimum of 7 years of experience in heavy infrastructure engineering.A minimum of 5 years of experience leading a team of designers on heavy infrastructure projects.
