POSITION : Registered Practical Nurse
UNIT : Women's & Children's Program
STATUS : Temporary Regular Part Time (Approximately January 2, 2024 to June 2, 2025; may end sooner or be extended)
SALARY : $36.72 - $37.09
POSITION DESCRIPTION :
The Women & Children’s Program is a multi-focused, special care area that provides patient and family centered care to expectant women, pediatric patients, well newborns, newborns who require special care and their families in in-patient and out-patient settings.
Operating within their full scope of practice, the RPN will work collaboratively with all members of the Women and Children’s team.
HOURS :
Must be available for 11.25 and 7.5 hour tours, on-call and other tours assigned by the hospital, 24 hour rotation, and 7 days / week.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :
- Registered Practical Nurse, currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario practicing at full scope.
- Two (2) years recent related experience of maternal / newborn / pediatric nursing within the last three (3) years.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification
- Able to meet the core competencies to independently provide care for Pediatric, Newborn and Post-Partum patients.
- Thorough understanding and commitment to Patient and Family Centered Care principles and ability to use in practice.
- Current Basic Life Support Certificate.
- Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, decision making, and conflict resolution skills and able to work through conflicts and differences in a respectful manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members to ensure an excellent patient care experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to patient and staff safety.
- Ability to adapt and work within a constantly changing environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing / continuous professional development through the completion of recent obstetrical, neonatal, pediatric and / or relevant course work.
- Basic computer skills (Outlook, Cerner, etc.)
- Demonstrated performance record that reflects STEGH’s values.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis in accordance with STEGH’s Attendance at Work Program.
Successful candidates must provide evidence of having received a full primary series of a COVID-19 vaccine or combination of vaccines authorized by Health Canada, and having received the final dose 14 days before entering STEGH.
