The Procurement Agent will be responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies that align with Element5's business needs and corporate strategy.

This role involves managing supplier relationships, monitoring market conditions for commodity-based materials, and ensuring the timely procurement and tracking of long-lead and project-based materials.

Collaboration with the Production Manager, Logistics Coordinator, and Project Planner is crucial for the success of this role.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Sourcing / Supplier Relationship Management (25%)
  • Commodities management, including developing tools for market monitoring and identifying spot buy opportunities (20%)
  • Management of Long Lead / Engineer To Order Project Buys, ensuring critical path requirements are met (20%)
  • Tracking / Status updates in ERP systems and project trackers to reflect current inbound delivery dates (30%)
  • Development and publication of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor supply chain health (5%)

Qualifications & Skills :

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and understanding of total cost of ownership.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • High energy and motivation with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines professionally.

Education and Experience :

  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, with job shop or Engineer to Order experience preferred.
  • Experience with commodity buying and in steel / metal shops is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Infor ERP systems and the construction or building industry is beneficial.
  • Grade 12 education, with a degree in Materials Management / Operations or similar.
  • Continuing education courses are an asset.

Working Conditions :

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Exposure to dust and noise within a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive use of computers and potential shop floor presence among moving equipment.
