MAC LLP is a full-service public accounting firm in Waterloo Region that has been in business for over 35 years. We deliver services to a wide range of clients including owner-managed businesses, not-for-profit organizations, charities, social housing, agricultural operations, and individuals and pride ourselves on our ability to do so in a way that is both professional and personable.
Our Elmira office is currently seeking a detail-oriented individual with farm accounting experience to join our team as a Senior Accountant. The candidate should have a can-do, positive attitude, and be excited to join the MAC LLP community and grow with us!
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements at compilation, review, and audit engagement levels across various sectors, including corporate, not-for-profit, and agricultural
- Prepare personal, corporate, partnership, charity, and other compliance returns (including T4s, T4As, T5s, T5018s)
- Provide full-cycle bookkeeping and payroll processing for clients
- Calculate and prepare GST / HST, payroll, and other government remittances
- Supervise and train staff accountants; participate in pre- and post-engagement discussions
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients and staff
- Troubleshoot and assist with accounting software issues (QuickBooks Desktop / Online, Sage, and others)
- Work within time budgets, monitor progress, and ensure deadlines are met
- Report engagement progress to Managers and Partners
- Examine and analyze accounting and financial records for accuracy and compliance
- Other duties as assigned
Key Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in public practice; experience with full-cycle bookkeeping is an assetCPA designation preferred but not requiredStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reportingPost-secondary education in accountingExcellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectivelyStrong communication skills for client interactions (phone, email, in-person)Proficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelGood working knowledge of CaseWare and CCH iFirm; familiarity with QuickBooks (Desktop and Online), Sage, and other accounting softwareAbility to travel occasionally to client locationsFarm accounting experience is highly preferredWhat We Offer :
