What is the opportunity?

Data Engineer on the Insurance Development team in Technology & Operations at the Royal Bank of Canada.

We are looking for energetic, dynamic, collaborative, progressive and high performing team member who are highly talented and willing to share and work together.

Our team is looking for a data engineer who is constantly thinking outside the box, ready to dive deep into the smallest details, is passionate about contributing to the successful delivery of his responsibilities.

What will you do?

Performing analysis on structured, unstructured, and semi-structured raw data, utilizing programming skills to standardize and organize data.

Preparing data using computer languages such as Python and shell scripting

Performing data transformations using SQL on SQL server environment. Knowledge of SSIS packages is a plus.

Identifying, sourcing, staging, and modeling internal process improvements to automate manual processes and optimize data delivery for greater scalability, as part of the end-to-end data lifecycle.

Developing technologies and data pipelines to enhance the dependability and quality of data.Provides consulting services on new initiatives of small to medium complexity.

Supports Development of Python and SQL code for data ingestion and transformation jobs.

Develops and supports Python and SQL code for data ingestion and transformation jobs.

Create IBM JCL and job scheduling documents as needed. Create production change records to deploy code for project.

Contributes to successful project completion by identifying risks and developing / recommending mitigation strategies.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-haves :

3+ years working experience with Databases and SQL language.

3+ years working experience with Scripting languages like Python, C sharp and Shell scripting.

IT Standards, Methodologies, SDLC, Information Security & audit requirements.

Familiarity with working in Agile environment

Familiarity with working with change control tools like GitHub, Helios etc.

Knowledge on creating formal written deliverables and other documentation and ensure design, code and documents are aligned with enterprise direction, principles and standards.

Nice-to-have :

Working knowledge of JCL / Zeke / OMS.

Working knowledge of ServiceNow Incident and Change Management.

Working knowledge of Helios / GitHub for Source Code Management.

Insurance industry knowledge
