Forbes Bros Ltd. is currently seeking a qualified Estimator (full-time, permanent) to join our team in Eastern Canada! This is a hybrid opportunity that requires up to 75% travel to various project sites in Ontario .
The Estimator will be responsible for providing the knowledge and skills required to prepare detailed cost estimates for bids, change orders, and / or projects. The Estimator will also be responsible for creating competitive cost estimates based on a detailed review of scope documentation. Additionally, the Estimator will support the Senior Estimator to maintain current and accurate pricing for materials and supplies that make up each estimate.

Key Responsibilities :

Guides field teams as requiredMaintain high quality, detailed estimate preparations for submission of the bid / project pricingMaintain quality of information in estimating databaseReview and compare subcontractor / suppliers quotes as compared to othersAnalyze client Request for Proposal (RFP) documents to determine contractual and technical requirementsReview bid documentation / drawings to determine project scope requirements and to confirm technical requirements for estimate preparationPerform material take off of engineered drawings for procurement purposes as neededSupport Senior Estimator with cost estimate preparation, subcontractor management, and supplier / vendor managementMonitor and track costing of ongoing projects including comparison of labour and equipment rates within estimate databaseEstimate market value of products and servicesLiaise and consult with engineers and subcontractors to prepare adjustments to cost estimatesContinue review and improvement of Forbes Bros Ltd. (FBL) estimating processes (i.e., stream line actual cost data evaluation and cost estimate database standardization)Meet estimating goals set for the yearPrepare estimates of costs of materials, labour, and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specificationsSupport Senior Estimator with preparation of detailed cost estimatesManage subcontractor process to ensure that quotes are levelled properlyAccurate records of cost estimates and pricing pay sheets in database are archivedMaintain accurate labour, equipment and material rates in databaseMaterials procured for the project meet specificationsMaterial delivery is to scheduleAdditional related duties as assignedWhat We Are Looking For :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and / or Construction Management or related field with a minimum of 5 years work experience in construction industryMust have cost estimating and construction experienceExperience working with Hard DollarProficient in Microsoft Office (Visio, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) and Adobe AcrobatProven ability to manage multiple projects / activities in a dynamic fast pace environmentExcellent time-management and organizational skills, attention to detail, with a proven ability to meet deadlinesStrong verbal communications and negotiation skillsHighly effective at building and managing client / vendors relationshipsFlexible, willing to work long hours if requiredA self-motivated individual that requires minimum supervision and with goal and team oriented attitudeAble and willing to travel to and work in remote project locations, embedded in operational work groupsHave and maintain a valid driver license and acceptable give (5) year drivers abstractForbes Bros Ltd .
