What is the COVE Internship Program
We are looking for bright talented individuals at the post-secondary level interested in the marine sector who are looking to gain valuable hands-on work experience. You will be placed with a host company in the marine sector and will be working on a core project for their business. Projects areinterdisciplinaryand students will be collaborating closely with other students and staff from different disciplines.
The COVE internship is a collaboration withnumerouscompanies that are leaders in the marine and marine technologysector. We are diligent in placing students in a role with a company that is well aligned with their discipline of study skillset and future career ambitions. Canadas marine sector is growing and thriving and contributes millions of dollars to our national economy on an annual basis. Since its origin in 1981 JASCO has developed and implemented acoustic technologies for underwater acoustics ranging from advanced acoustic recording systems design to complex acoustic modelling algorithms. We perform acoustic consulting fieldmonitoringand data analysis services. Our work encompasses all stages of environmental reviews and assessments of underwater noise. We work with regulatory oil and gas marine construction energy fisheries transport anddefencesectors. JASCO has offices in Victoria BC Halifax NS the United States Australia Germany and the United Kingdom. The engineering team in Halifax develops and supports a variety of underwater autonomous acoustic recorders. JASCO recorders are designed to record sounds of everything from industrial noise to marine mammals.We are currently looking for a mechanical engineering student to assist in product development of our underwater instruments as well as customization and mobilization of our existing fleet of instruments for field projects around the world.The successful candidate will join a small and energetic multi-disciplinary team of engineers scientists and technicians and will gain hands-on experience in mechanical design and have the opportunity to develop designs from concept through to prototype.
