Summary:
An Irrigation Technician is responsible for the day to day watering and maintenance of the Irrigation system. This is a full time position which will require early morning starts to successfully complete routine water applications. This is a full-time seasonal position with a minimum 44 hours per week, and the successful candidate must be available to work any shift including early mornings, days, weekends and holidays
Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitor, operate, and manage irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of greens, tees, fairways, and surrounding turf areas, maintaining optimal playing conditions and overall turf health.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all irrigation system components, including sprinkler heads, valves, pumps, controllers, piping, and electrical systems to ensure efficient and reliable performance.
- Adjust irrigation schedules and system settings based on weather conditions, soil moisture levels, seasonal demands, and course requirements to promote water conservation and turf sustainability.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance and system audits to identify leaks, pressure issues, coverage deficiencies, and mechanical failures before they impact course conditions.
- Perform light course clean-up duties, including removing debris, maintaining access to irrigation heads and valve boxes, and ensuring irrigated areas remain tidy and unobstructed.
- Maintain accurate records of irrigation activities, repairs, water usage, and system performance to support operational planning and regulatory compliance.
- Communicate effectively with the Superintendent and maintenance team regarding turf conditions, irrigation needs, and system concerns.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall maintenance, playability, and presentation of the golf course.
Qualifications:
- Able to demonstrate a growing knowledge of equipment operation as time progresses.
- Self-motivated. Strong performer. Must be able to work with minimum supervision
- Able to positively interact with co-workers, and public.
- An understanding of the game of golf is an asset.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, sit, and reach with hands. May be required to lift up to 50lbs
- Must be able to work early morning hours
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to work regular maintenance hours when watering is not required
