DUTIES
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical assistance and oversee lab, clinic and simulation equipment, including : preparation, implementation, software installation and configuration, routine maintenance and repair, programming, performance testing and safety monitoring.
- Maintain other equipment and related multimedia peripherals including digital video recording systems.
- Develop and maintain web materials to support lab, clinic and simulation center activities.
- Develop inventory control practices and procedures to manage supply and inventory levels cost effectively.
- Interact with medical equipment vendors to ensure goods and services meet medical training objectives.
- Obtain quotes and make purchasing decisions within delegated authority.
- Maintain record keeping and ensure that standards are met.
- Implement hardware and software updates.
- Work with department and faculty to establish priorities and ensure timelines are met.
- Demonstrate technical aspects of operating lab equipment, clinic equipment and simulators to faculty members and others.
- Provide summaries of operational expenses, equipment usage, capital equipment inventory and equipment repairs.
- Collect data and prepare summary reports to support research grants, commercial and special projects.
- Participate in Quality Assurance / Quality Control programs as required by accreditation / approval standards and University protocols / policy.
- Perform administrative duties including faxing, photocopying, report processing / filing, distributing results, booking lab and simulation centre time, data entry.
- Ensure and maintain a clean and safe working environment for faculty and students including work with biohazardous material.
- Ensures security of labs, clinic and associated equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION :
Grade 12 plus an Associate Degree, 2 year diploma, or equivalent post-secondary educationEXPERIENCE :
Three (3) years' related laboratory or field experienceSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB
WHMIS CertificationDemonstrated knowledge of software applications, MS Office Suite, A / V expertise, Business Systems, or AccountingTechnical trouble-shooting skillsAbility to deal courteously, tactfully and persuasively with students, staff and facultyDemonstrated knowledge of safe laboratory practicesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to plan, organize and prioritize tasks and meet deadlinesAbility to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a teamDemonstrated knowledge of budgetsAbility to maintain confidential recordsWORKING CONDITIONS
