Shift : Monday - Saturday - 5 AM start time. As a Spare Board Driver you will fill in for absent drivers to cover routes, handle overflow or fill in for vacations. This position requires flexibility and you will experience a variety of work in this role.
Job Summary
Safely operates a heavy‑duty truck to perform assigned duties on transfer routes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate vehicle in accordance with Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) and Transport Canada requirements as well as all local, province and federal requirements and company expectations for the fleet; maintain a clean and safe vehicle.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of assigned vehicle using standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report); note all issues on DVIR form for corrective review / repair.
- Immediately report any unsafe situations or service calls to Operations Manager or Dispatch before attempting service.
- Participate and cooperate in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by Operations Manager.
- Work closely with Operations Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe accounts.
- Perform all duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch, assisting other company drivers as directed.
- Notify Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
- Notify Dispatch or Operations Manager of issues as prescribed by Service Machine protocol, including blocked containers, potential missed pickups, or problems that arise on the route.
- Communicate customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Operations Manager.
- Completely dump all containers and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.
- Complete and submit customer tickets when excess yardage must be removed.
- Position containers on the customer’s property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced, containers are set in an upright position, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
- Follow route assignments throughout the day and complete all documentation when checking in at the end of the route.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory duties.
Qualifications
Education and Experience : None required.Licenses and Registration : Hold a current DZ or Class 3 license or higher; CDL is required and applicant must be at least 18 years of age.Must be legally eligible to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).Successfully complete pre‑employment drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check and motor vehicle record review.Acceptable driving record required.Compensation
The expected base pay range for this position across Canada is $32.49 hourly. This wage represents a good faith estimate; the specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
