Position Summary
Renovator is responsible for all building renovation related duties within their assigned location(s) within a residential multi-family setting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carpentry and handyman works including drywall and framing
- Maintain, repair and renovate wooden structures
- Interior carpentry
- Build stairs, decks, balconies and other items
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
- Estimate material costs, maintain inventory
- Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moldings and hardware
- Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Removal and installation of flooring (laminate, lino and carpet)
- Removal of old furnishings and preparing for renovations
- Minor plumbing repairs and renovations, replacing toilet and taps, and pipes, etc.
- Minor electrical updates including replacement of switches, light fixtures and sockets
- Patching drywall, painting walls and trim
- Carpentry work including cutting and installing baseboards, hanging doors, minor kitchen cabinet repairs, removing and installing shelving and cabinets
- Delivery, loading and unloading of material and supplies
- Removing debris and maintaining a trash free environment
- Other duties relating to upkeep and renovation of buildings as assigned
- Be available on call on a basis to deal with problems that occur after hours and / or weekends
- Help in maintenance work when required as assigned by regional or facilities manager
Qualifications and Requirements
Must possess at least 2 years’ of relevant building renovation work experienceWorking knowledge of renovation and repair of buildings, building systems, respective by-laws and / or regulations an assetPossess own toolsFlexible to work regular work hours and on-call duties / weekends / after hour emergencies on rotation basis scheduleMust possess valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to use at work.Must successfully complete a security clearance
