About the position

Duties
The member is responsible for:
1. Providing support for a variety of airborne law enforcement operational activities, such as, but not limited to; flying aircraft for reconnaissance / surveillance, integrated cross-border law enforcement operations, tracking criminals, rescuing and evacuating injured persons; and
2. Assisting with prisoner and deportation escorts , detention of prisoners before or after flights, and transportation of exhibits and other hazardous materials in accordance with the Transport Canada issued Equivalency Certificate. Work environment

• frequent travel by air and vehicle, including at varied hours of the day and night
• extensive travel, both foreign and domestic

The INFOTEL number for persons using a TTY/TDD is 1-800-532-9397.*** RCMP pilots with Air Services are part of the Law Enforcement Support Group, Pilot sub-group (LES-PT). Under this group, aspiring pilots will be required to hold peace officer status and successfully complete the Air Services Special Constable Member Training to meet the position requirements. Training will consist of approximately 9 weeks, to be conducted at Depot Division in Regina, Saskatchewan or another approved facility yet to be confirmed. Training costs will be the responsibility of the RCMP. Successful completion of this training is one of the job requirements. Should a candidate be unsuccessful, their employment will be terminated in accordance with Sec.9.4 .(1) of the RCMP Act. Successful applicants will be sworn peace officers, required to carry a firearm and be subject to use of force policies in the performance of their duties.***Reference checks will be sought.Fixed Wing candidates may be required to conduct a simulator evaluation as part of the application process.Candidates must meet all essential qualifications to be appointed to a position. RCMP medical requirement:
This factor is not used at the pre-selection stage. In addition to an unrestricted Category I Transport Canada medical validation certificate, the candidate must meet the minimal health standards as assessed by RCMP Health Services. This includes a full medical assessment, laboratory test(s), psychological examinations, vision, colour vision and hearing standards (colour perception and visual and hearing acuity standards).Candidates who have successfully completed both medical and security clearances will not be required to restart the clearance process; this requirement applies only to those who have not yet completed these steps.The following conditions must be met when the candidate is successful in the recruiting process. Recruited pilots will be required to successfully complete the following training in order to meet the position requirements:
1. Must successfully complete the Air Services Special Constable Member Training.
2. Must successfully complete the line indoctrination as indicated in the Air Services Fixed Wing Operations Manual (FWOM).
3. Must successfully complete any additional required and/or recurrent training and qualifications as indicated in the Air Services FWOM, the Canadian Aviation Regulations and RCMP policy.Successful completion of Training, within a reasonable amount of time, is a condition of employment.You must be willing and able to
a) relocate anywhere in Canada,
b) spend long hours in travel status (relief duties, training, overnights for regular flights etc), and
c) as Pilot in Command, accept all responsibility for decisions respecting the safety of aircraft and passengers in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Licenses/Certifications for a Fixed Wing Pilot:
• Fixed-wing pilots must possess: A valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot's License (ATPL) or a Commercial Pilot's License (CPL), with a group 1 or 3 Instrument Flight Rating• An unrestricted Category I Transport Canada medical validation certificate• A Restricted Operator Certificate - Aeronautical (ROC-A) Radio LicenseYou must have a minimum of 3000 hours of Pilot-in-Command flight time.Note: Only selected candidates must provide a photocopy of the last three pages of their pilot's logbook.
