Job description

Position Summary :

Reporting to the Chief Nursing Executive, the Director, Human Resources (HR) is responsible for delivering full HR services; strategic & administrative in support of HR and organizational business objectives that support optimum patient care. The Director will ensure to design, develop and provide direction on Runnymede Campus’ workforce strategy and talent management strategy. The Director will also ensure that there is consistent application, implementation, and improvement of approved HR practices, processes and strategies across Runnymede campus to strengthen and prepare the workforce of Runnymede campus based on it’s strategic priorities and vision. This role provides leadership and guidance on complex and diverse labor relations matters, as well as coaching and mentoring to HR professional.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and guidance overseeing HR strategy & talent acquisition, performance management, compensation and benefits strategy, HR strategic advisory, HR administration oversight, employee and labor relations, succession planning, retention programs, training and leadership development
  • Function as a strategic, human capital business advisor to the senior management team
  • Design, implement, and oversee HR workforce strategies that align with the organization's goals, ensure the talent needs of the current and future Runnymede campus are met, and address future skills requirements, gaps, and strategic ambitions
  • Oversee the strategy, development and execution of learning and development programs, including orientation / onboarding to train staff and prepare them for the current & future Runnymede campus’ strategic priorities
  • Oversee the maintenance and execution of the performance management process across the organization and provide strategic support and guidance to senior management to ensure the performance management process is implemented effectively
  • Develop a comprehensive compensation strategy for the campus’ compensation, benefits and pension programs, including benchmarking against industry standards (in-house or via third-party vendors).
  • Lead and collaborate with the management team to review existing and design new people & HR related policies and procedures to help support and sustain HR best practices across Runnymede Campus in compliance with employment laws, regulations.
  • Actively engage and build relationships with the senior leadership team to deliver strategic advice and recommendations on HR processes, policies and talent management based on research, trends and analytics.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on all matters relating to performance management, grievances, mediations, complaints / risks
  • Establish conflict resolution & grievance handling framework to promote both early intervention, minimizing disruptions and maintaining positive work environments and address employee concerns
  • Lead collective bargaining negotiations with labor unions
  • Design the strategic initiatives aimed at service improvement, and develops the performance targets associated to ensure service improvements are being tracked and measured to deliver on initiatives desired goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or business administration or related field
  • 10 years' of professional HR generalist experience
  • HRPA Member in good standing (CHRP an asset)
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience managing or leading a team of professionals with expertise in recruitment, HR data management / administration, and any combination of workforce planning, benefits and pension administration or talent management.
  • Previous experience as key partner in organization-wide HR initiative(s) or design of HR strategic plans.
  • Proficient with Windows Operating System, Microsoft Word / Excel / Power Point.
  • Exceptional leader – builds effective teams, inspires excellence in service delivery and develops talent through positive coaching and mentoring approaches.
  • Excellent knowledge of management and oversight of strategic human resources elements such as HR strategy design and implementation, end-to-end talent management, human resources practices in a unionized environment or public sector / broader public sector organization
