Overview
Senior Process Mechanical Engineer role at GHD. Base location options include GTA / Waterloo, Ontario. This senior technical position leads innovative solutions and delivers high-quality projects for internal, existing, and new clients. The role involves planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment, and overseeing installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment such as centralized heat, gas, water, and steam systems. The position also includes coaching and technically developing team members.

Responsibilities
- Engineering Solutions Design : Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to meet a design brief in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost, conforming to organizational and regulatory standards.
- Engineering Standards Specification : Contribute to analysis, drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and evaluation of their effectiveness within the engineering discipline for the organization and its suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
- Process Design Engineering : Analyze and specify methods and process steps, plant, machinery, and equipment required to design and improve manufacturing or materials processes to meet cost and quality parameters.
- Personal Capability Building : Develop personal capabilities through assessment, development planning, formal and informal training, coaching, and pursuing external professional accreditation where relevant.
- Engineering Inspections : Conduct inspections to evaluate quality of engineering works and the integrity of installations or structures; specify remedial works to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge Management System : Work within knowledge management systems to deliver outcomes for the area of responsibility.
- Contract Management : Manage day-to-day relationships with contract service providers within an established contract management plan.
- Improvement / Innovation : Identify shortcomings in processes, systems, and procedures and apply change management programs to address them.
- Product and Solution Development : Define and deliver products and services meeting customer needs within established systems.
- Project Management : Deliver small- to medium-scale projects within an established program management plan.
Education
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related field.Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario Canada (P.Eng) – Mandatory.Experience
General Experience : Minimum of 10 years of experience in industries such as water, wastewater, storm water, renewable natural gas, hydrogen, agricultural, food and beverage, power generation, co-generation and industrial facilities.Managerial Experience : Experience supervising junior colleagues.Experience in gas handling, compression, and treatment systems for natural gas and / or landfill gas; hydrogen handling, blending and storage for Future Energy projects is a plus.Familiarity with BIM 360, REVIT, AutoCAD, Revizto and Navisworks or similar 3D coordination tools.Flexibility and adaptability to handle a wide range of client and project types and requirements.Strong analytical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills.Ability to lead and multitask in a team environment with high attention to detail.Strong written and verbal communication skills in English to convey technical information to clients, contractors, and field staff.Extensive knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, and familiarity with industry best practices.Equal Opportunity
