Tree Island Steel operates in Canada under Tree Island Industries Ltd and in the United States under Tree Island Wire (USA) Inc.

Role Overview

Our Millwrights play an important role in providing emergency and preventative maintenance to our manufacturing equipment and machinery.

Within our 400,000 square feet manufacturing facility, we have over 8,000 pieces of equipment and machinery including galvanizing lines, wiredraw machines, mesh machines, nail machines, packing lines. You will get on-going exposure to a wide range of machinery. This role requires membership in the Teamsters Union, Local 213.

Main Responsibilities

Provide maintenance to our manufacturing equipment and machinery

Preventative maintenance inspections (including repairs and adjustments)

Rebuild / repair gearboxes, pneumatics, hydraulics, prime movers, and hoists

Reduce unplanned breakdowns and increase planned and preventative initiatives

Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment

Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes

Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery

Compensation

Base Pay :

$46.82 per hour

Guaranteed 2% pay increase every year

Premiums :

Tool Premium $0.20 per hour

Shift Premium : Afternoon $0.65 per hour, Graveyard $0.70 per hour

Tuesday to Saturday Shift Premium : $0.70 per hour

Sunday to Thursday Shift Premium : $1.00 per hour

Possible Shifts

Monday – Friday (Day, Afternoon, or Graveyard)

Tuesday – Saturday (Day)

Sunday – Thursday (Day)

What You’ll Bring

BC or Inter-Provincial Millwright Trade Qualification

Minimum of 5 years' related work experience in a heavy industrial environment that includes the maintenance and repair of :

overhead cranes;

gas furnaces;

pneumatic and hydraulic equipment;

gear reducers; and

conveyors

Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and schematics to determine work procedures

Strong problem-solving skills, ability to recognize and assist in resolving issues

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Effective verbal and written communication skills

High aptitude for quick learning

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
