Position Summary

Located in our Brantford office, this role requires the ability to work within a confidential environment, demonstrate flexibility, adapt to multiple requirements of the role, and work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Local travel will require access to a vehicle for client visits.

Key Responsibilities

• Execution of fieldwork for audit and review engagements, including:
  • Preparation and completion of planning documents and financial statements
  • Preparation of compilation engagements for clients in various industries
  • Preparing personal and corporate tax returns, related checklists, and additional tax filings
  • Correspondence with clients, gaining a strong understanding of clients businesses
• Maintain and develop knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and updates
• Assisting junior staff and students
• Ensure that all significant engagement matters are documented and brought to the attention of the Partner, as well as keeping them informed of engagement progress

Qualifications & Other Requirements

• Postsecondary education in Accounting or Business
• Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience, including audit engagements and application of Canadian Auditing Standards
• Previous experience with accounting programs including CaseWare and Taxprep
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Ability to assist junior staff
• Outstanding client/customer service skills
• Solid understanding of required government taxes (payroll, consumer, and other business taxes)
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Flexibility to work additional hours
