Job Summary
The Electrician is responsible for performing facilities maintenance and repairs to buildings and equipment.
Major Responsibilities
- Perform corrective, reactive and preventative maintenance of facilities buildings, equipment and installations as well as repairs and other project work
- Coordinate with Lead Hand Electrician, Facilities Supervisor, contractors, other CN departments as well as other vendors for assistance or direction as required upon various types of work
Working Conditions
Position is subject to responding to emergency calls on nights and weekends as required by the Supervisor and Lead HandThe role is required to work inside and outside in various conditionsThe role is required to work at heights, confined spaces, and any other areas work is requiredMust service driven as the role works with all departments throughout CNMust be safety conscious and capable of ensuring a safe working environment for employees and contractorsThe role requires working away from home for extended periods of timeThe incumbent must be available to work overtime when necessaryRequirements
Must hold Inter-Provincial Red Seal Electrician CertificateMust have valid or be willing to acquire Manitoba Driver’s License (Class 3)Must be able to read and understand electrical drawings for various types of repair work, maintenance, project work and troubleshootingMust have a good working knowledge of power distribution and emergency power systems including high voltageTraining
The Electrician must complete all training sessions as directed by the company. A successful completion of this training is essential for future performance of duties.
