The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction project accounting, including percentage of completion, WIP, and project cost management. Familiarity with Sage or Vista Viewpoint is highly desirable.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Controller - Construction Project Accounting to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to demonstrate their expertise and leadership in the Accounting + Finance industry. As a Controller, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of construction project accounting, ensuring financial accuracy, and delivering high-level financial analysis. You will play a crucial role in our team, ensuring that our financial operations run smoothly and efficiently. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of construction accounting principles and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities :

1. Oversee all construction project accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and monthly reporting.

2. Prepare and analyze project cost reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.

3. Utilize Vista Viewpoint software to manage project costs and percentage of completion accounting.

4. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

5. Develop and implement financial control procedures and systems to enhance the overall efficiency of the accounting department.

6. Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget and manage the preparation of management report of budget versus actual variances.

7. Perform cost accounting and manage the construction work in progress (WIP) schedule.

8. Assist in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and payroll.

9. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.

Qualifications :

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is preferred.

3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.

4. Proficient in Microsoft Suite, with advanced knowledge of Excel including VLOOKUP’s.

5. Extensive knowledge of GAAP, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, monthly reporting, and cost accounting.

6. Experience with construction WIP, Vista Viewpoint, project cost-percentage of completion accounting, and project cost.

7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

9. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

10. High attention to detail and accuracy.

11. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
