An opportunity exists for an Electrical Engineer / Technologist to become part of a dynamic Industrial Group providing professional services to our clients in the manufacturing / industrial sector in our Waterloo, Markham or London offices.

Your Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate you will assume the role of a Pre-Start Health and Safety Review Specialist and be responsible for :

  • The review of industrial equipment and processes for compliance with current Safety Legislation and Standards including machine guarding, electrical / pneumatics / hydraulics schematics review and on-site equipment review.
  • Design and implementation of safety solutions, fee estimating, quotation and report preparation.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience in Automation and Instrumentation and Controls would be considered an asset
  • You are well versed in computer design tools and design processes and possess a solid working knowledge of the Safety Legislation and Standards.
  • You are a self-motivated individual possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and possess the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to conduct on-site reviews of equipment / processes at client facilities is essential.
  • Experience in the following fields / subject matters would be considered an asset :

    • Industrial Robotics / Automation

  • Automated / autonomous industrial vehicles
  • Safety-related parts of control systems (SRP / CS) safety standards
  • Programmable safety controllers (AB, Siemens, Jokab, Omron)
  • Machinery Risk Assessment
  • Pre-Start Health and Safety Review (PSHSR / PSR)
  • Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) / HAZOP

    • Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's engineering degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, or a Diploma in Electrical Technology and are a Certified Engineering Technologist or eligible to become one.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in safety engineering in an automotive or other manufacturing / industrial role.
