DUTIES
The University and Employment Preparation Department at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a sessional lecturer to teach the following course in Winter 2025 : MATH 0550 (Advanced Business / Technical Mathematics).
Course description : Adult Basic Education - Advanced : Students study concepts that include operations with real numbers, solving first degree equations and inequalities, and graphs of equations. Additional topics may include consumer mathematics, finance, data analysis, measurement, geometry, trigonometry, systems of equations, applications for trades, and applications for health.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in a relevant field required
- At least one degree in Mathematics required
- Teaching Certificate or Instructor’s Diploma or 5 years teaching experience required
- Experience teaching students whose educational, social and economic backgrounds are diverse, and for whom previous school experience may have been challenging required
- Demonstrated evidence of scholarly teaching required
- Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in ABE science courses preferred
- Skills in building intercultural understanding, empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) preferred
- Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) preferred
- Teaching excellence including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) preferred
