As a Social Media Community Manager at Export Development Canada (EDC), you will play a pivotal role in our social media initiatives. Your mission is to engage with our diverse audience, including customers, partners, employees, industry influencers, and stakeholders. Social media is a key channel where EDC leads and participates in meaningful, timely, and relevant conversations with the Canadian business community, showcasing the impact of exporting and promoting sustainable and responsible global business growth.

Your objectives are to foster a sense of community and affinity, build and maintain brand trust and reputation, and highlight the value EDC offers to Canadian companies through our comprehensive solutions. This tactical role supports EDC’s integrated corporate social media strategy and maintains a consistent voice across all platforms. You will collaborate with the Senior Advisor, Social Media and Content, and report to the Manager of Social Media and Content.

Responsibilities include :

  • Manage EDC’s daily social media activities on all corporate profiles.
  • Act as the brand's mediator, engaging in real-time conversations around our content and brand.
  • Proactively seek discussions with key audiences on trade-related topics, highlighting how EDC’s work benefits Canadians companies and Canadians.
  • Identify potential threats and opportunities in user-generated content related to EDC’s brand.
  • Serve as the primary contact for inbound requests via private messages.
  • Escalate issues, observations, opportunities, and insights from social media proactively.
  • Enforce EDC’s Social Media Content & Community Guidelines.
  • In coordination with the team, maintain and manage a comprehensive social media calendar, ensuring visibility of all initiatives (organic posts, executives posts, events, filming, etc.).
  • Continuously monitor, engage with, and analyze organic and paid posts on EDC’s social media channels.
  • Assist the Senior Advisor, Social Media & Content in supporting executives on social media.
  • Foster an innovative environment for social media testing and expertise development at EDC.
  • Stay updated on emerging social media trends and research new tools.
  • Manage access to and update corporate profiles on a quarterly basis.

Screening Criteria

  • Completed an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing, or Communications, Public Relations or in a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in social media, or community management
  • Audience focus with emphasis on engagement (digital literacy)
  • Knowledge of user experience and or communication field
  • Knowledge of global social media trends and practices
  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
  • Assets

  • Compensation Details

  • Communications 15 : Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $ 63,894 - $85,194, plus a performance-based incentive
  • Location

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
  • This role may be performed from EDC’s head office in Ottawa or from our Community Hubs in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Laval, Brossard, Halifax, Calgary, or Vancouver.
