The Ground Hand role is a great opportunity to enter the Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications industry and learn a skilled trade. This is an ideal role for a recent graduate of a Powerline Technician program who is looking to obtain industry experience.

The wage range for this opportunity is between $18-24 / hour and based on any prior experience.

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO :

  • Assist lineman in the construction of fiber optic and coaxial plant including new build and repair / replacement of active plant
  • Maintain minimum benchmarks on client and company performance metrics
  • Carry out all work performed in the safest possible manner, following all internal safety guidelines and requirements
  • Maintain all assigned assets such as test meter, safety equipment, ladders etc.
  • Manage, track, and organize client equipment and small parts. Must be able to account for the usage of all equipment
  • Maintain a clean and organized company vehicle. Ensure all routine maintenance is completed timely and any problems with vehicle are immediately reported to local management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES :

  • Holds at least a valid Class 5 license. Class 3 license is preferred
  • Graduated from a Powerline Technician (PLT) program is a definite asset
  • Experience working around heavy equipment and trucks is an asset
  • Ability to use hand tools and work at heights.
  • Able to lift to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to take directions and adequately follow instructions as given
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements
  • Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check and a clean driver’s abstract
  • Must have Valid First Aid Level C or be able to obtain before starting employment
