Job description

PRIMARY ROLE :

As part of the consulting team, the Control Room Consultant will work with Evans’ customers and internal stakeholders in understanding the operational requirements of a control room(s) and translate those requirements into actual conceptual designs. As a subject matter expert in control rooms, the consultant will be the trusted advisor to the customer and will help guide them throughout the consulting process. The role will require continuous learning and development of knowledge in the areas of ergonomics, design, control room technology, AV technology, IT technology, and similar. This role is in-office, located in Calgary AB.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develop an understanding of key Evans’ processes and products.
  • Understanding the current control room operating model and infrastructure.
  • Lead specific smaller consulting opportunities (cradle to grave).
  • Organize and support onsite workshops with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Understand and apply (specify) various technologies that apply to control rooms.
  • Develop conceptual operational plans.
  • Create consulting reports ensuring compliance to control room design standards (including ISO 11064).
  • Develop specifications for customers (consoles, acoustics, lighting, IT, Video Management, AV Systems, and similar).
  • Defining the operational inputs and outputs as it relates to AV & technology requirements.
  • Work closely with Construction Services team in joint projects as well as actively promote other Evans services and capabilities.
  • Assist in the development of reports and proposals to clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / ATTRIBUTES :

Required

  • Minimum of a 2-year diploma in a technical field (Architectural, IT, Audio Visual, Interior Design, and similar).
  • 1-3+ years’ experience related to the job description is also especially important.
  • Experience in interacting with customers at various levels (Operational to C-Suite).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule. Many hours will be expected outside of a typical working day / week.
  • Ability to travel as required; 20-30% (can include international travel).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Self-motivated, confident, able to learn quickly.
  • An effective collaborator with strong teamwork skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Considered an asset

  • Understanding of consoles and control rooms.
  • Project management experience would be an asset.
  • Ability to quickly develop relationships at various levels and establish credibility and trust.
  • Ability to review and understand technical documents with regards to construction drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of current design trends.
  • Ability review and prepare and interior design set of drawings.
  • Advanced design awareness and knowledge of interior design principles and elements.
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency in graphics software.
