Priority packs are required to keep Fraser Health’s two MEDITECH systems, Expanse and Client Server (C / S) up to date with MEDITECH’s release schedule and includes solution updates and fixes.
MEDITECH recommends taking regular priority pack updates. Some organizations maintain a quarterly cadence, while others, including many Canadian hospitals, take these updates annually.
In consultation with MEDITECH, Fraser Health is adopting a bi-annual (every 6 months) cadence.
While the program moves to implement Expanse in the health authority, Fraser Health must ensure Expanse and C / S remain up to date with the latest updates.
Timely acceptance and required testing for implementation of the required priority packs is important to ensure we stay on track while Expanse is rolled out.
This will be a two year contract to manage testing of priority packs as a full service. The testing services will be for Expanse and C / S MEDITECH systems in parallel.
There are 4 anticipated priority packs (includes both systems) in this two-year period.
This will be an all-inclusive package, designed to deliver the services listed below :
Project Manager :
- Work with stakeholder resources to collect requirements, define scope, verify and control scope.
- Work with stakeholder groups to review, identify, clarify and prioritize business and technical requirements
- Provide scoping
- Define activities, sequence activities, estimation of resources and activity duration.
- Develop and control schedule
- Identify stakeholders, plan, execute and distribute communications and other related project requirements
- Report on performance, budget, schedule, meeting minutes, decisions, outcomes, risks and any other reporting requirements
- Identify high-level risks as part of the project planning process
- Validate change impact and risk assessment with clinical and IT stakeholders
- May include Fraser Health structured project management process (, charter, status deliverables, etc.)

- Testing Team : Conduct Priority Pack assessment
- Review the list of changes
- Assess changes for impact and risk
- Assess testing requirements
- Document workflow changes
- Review new training / education needs of informatics and end users
- Coordinate and conduct testing
- Develop a test strategy and plan, including test cases and test scripts
- Perform full end-to-end testing
- Track issues, work with stakeholders and MEDITECH for issues
- Include integration and interoperability testing as required
- Develop update documents (, quick reference guides, new procedures, etc.) that can be used to train informatics and / or end users where there are high impact changes
- Coordinate and support go live of Priority Packs (move from TEST to LIVE environment) that includes, but not limited to :
- Cutover plan
- Go live check list
- Issue tracking
- Validation of changes (test as required) in LIVE
- Supporting presence for the go live
- Coordinate and conduct any meetings required, such as stakeholder engagement, planning meetings, weekly status meetings
