Data Engineer

On behalf of our mobile game development client located in Victoria, British Columbia, Brainhunter Systems Ltd. is seeking a skilled BI Data Engineer. Our client is a highly successful publisher of mobile and social games. They rely heavily on BI (business intelligence) stack to optimize their player experience and business.Key activities and deliverables : Design, build and improve ETL (extract, transform and load) pipelines in support of data aggregation and movementImplement processes to efficiently maintain data securityEnsure data is ingestible and usable in reporting visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, Meta, or PowerBIQualified candidates will have : 3-5+ years of work experience in data science, engineering or analytics rolesBachelor degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or Math, or equivalent experience Experience with AWS (Amazon web services) offerings, including S3, EC2 and EMRDevelopment ability in python and an Object Oriented programming languageStrong database experience, leveraging event-driven dataExperience handling large data volumesDrive to thrive in a complex environment with a hands-on approach to problem solvingPreferred candidates will have : Masters or PhD in relevant field or equivalent experiencePractical experience with agile development practices and egoless programmingProgramming skill with Java and / or GoLangExperience with Hadoop Ecosystem including Spark, HDFS, Hive, Kafka, Sqoop and HbaseExperience with Luigi pipelines for moving data between HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System) and RDBMS (Relational Database Management System)Experience in mobile or social analytics and mobile / social game industries (though interesting perspectives from other industries are also appreciated)Current knowledge on the latest technologies in data science, BI and / or data management
