To meet our growing Canadian business needs, we are looking for a Water Resources EIT or Discipline Specialist in our Vancouver or Calgary offices. The successful individual will support a range of projects for clients in major public and private sector organizations and will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects. About the role
The successful candidate will have keen interest in water resources areas such as drainage, stormwater management, water supply, environmental assessment and low impact development (LID) technology, and may also have interest in site grading, yard piping and pumping stations. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to develop effective working relationships with colleagues and clients, and to develop and motivate others in the team.
Responsibilities
- Support and collaborate with our Environmental Services, Conveyance, Transportation and Buildings teams on multi-disciplinary projects, as well as with the client.
- Water resources and design projects including surface drainage systems, stormwater management facilities and LID measures, modelling and environmental assessments.
- Contribute to technical reports and support proposals.
- Manage environmental data and complete analysis on water quality and flow data.
- Conduct field work including water quality sampling, flow monitoring and general site inspections, when required.
- Work collaboratively in the team, coordinating with internal teams, clients, contractors and regulatory agencies.
- Design and support municipal and industrial conveyance systems, including water and wastewater pipelines, pumping stations and related infrastructure.
- Conduct hydraulic and hydrological analyses to meet technical, environmental, and financial project requirements.
- Prepare engineering reports, specifications and contract documents.
- Assist with construction-phase services, including submittal reviews and site visits.
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards and Jacobs’ safety and sustainability commitments.
Requirements
- 0 to 3 years of experience in water resources projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred skills and experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate in multidisciplinary project teams and prepare technical reports.
- Enthusiastic team player with a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of or direct experience with Arc GIS/Arc Map.
- Proficiency in common desktop applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Project, etc.).
- Ability to conduct field work and a AB/BC driver’s license.
- Familiarity with hydraulic modeling tools such as HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, PCSWMM, InfoWorks (experience with these is an asset).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
- Pre‑graduate experience in water resources and/or water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Consulting engineering experience.
- Eligibility for P.Eng. registration in Alberta and/or British Columbia within 3–4 years.
