ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Based at the Macassa Mine, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Surveyor to join our Survey Team for a 12-month contract .
This is an entry level position into our technical services team.
The Macassa Mine is a high-grade gold producer, with grade improving at depth, and a key valuation driver for Agnico Eagle.
Located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the Macassa Mine remains one of the highest gold grade mines in the world.
Macassa commenced operations in 2002, and with the discovery of the South Mine Complex has been able to increase its level of production significantly over the past five years.
The mine is located in an area with well-developed infrastructure, including a provincial highway, a railway system and a private airport.
High-grade ore is processed at the Macassa Mill, which currently has available capacity and is located in close proximity to the mine.
As a Surveyor, yo ur role will consist of marking up development lines, development pick-ups, long-hole drill ring mark-ups, CMS surveys, drill hole gyro tests, updating survey drawings, issuing survey plans and doing month end calculations.
This role requires you to be comfortable in the underground environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Survey control points advanced, data downloaded and entered into the computer (Deswik or other related programs).
Update all level plans using the software Deswik, on an as needed basis.
Provide reference tools for the mine department to operate effectively / accurately.
Issue development-heading updates.
Survey of production hole’s toes and collars and perform gyro tests to support drill and blast design.
Survey all diamond drill holes, service holes, and others as requested.
Cavity monitor surveys of all stopes, raises, etc.
Provide survey support to operations in both underground and surface locations.
Track and report monthly advance of mine development and rehabilitation.
Ore and concentrate stockpile measurement on a bi-monthly basis.
Perform routine check surveys to ensure precision and accuracy are maintained in all mine survey data and control points.
Keep track of required survey equipment calibration and repairs.
Complete all survey month-end calculations accurately and within a timely manner.
Perform other duties, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in this role, you must have :
The technical aptitude and ability to learn different computer software. We will teach you how to use any specific software required for this role.
The capability to work in a fast-paced physical working environment.
Precision, accuracy, and attention to detail.
The ability to work under pressure.
A full G-class license.
Reliability and ability to self-manage.
The ability to work in an underground environment (including tight spaces, dusty / dirty working areas with low light).
Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
Assets of this role :
Working knowledge of mine design software is an asset (Deswik, AutoCAD, Promine).
Knowledge of total station setting.
Knowledge of use and how to calibrate associated survey equipment.
Survey / Engineering Technical Diploma or equivalent experience
Experience in underground operating mine sites.
