Chief Executive Officer

The Canadian Medical Association is entering an exciting new chapter and is seeking an extraordinary leader, trusted partner, and skilled strategist as its next Chief Executive Officer.

The voice of Canada’s physicians, the CMA is driving change in health and health care, and supporting the medical community.

With a bold strategy and focused determination, the CMA has strengthened its influence as a thought leader, capacity-builder, and a catalyst for change.

Alongside its many partners, and with the resources, credibility, and expertise to drive meaningful impact, the CMA is leading a national movement of physicians, learners, health providers and patients to influence health care reform at the time it’s needed most.

As CEO, you will help lead this effort, guided by the CMA’s ambitious strategic plan, , which aims to tackle the foundational issues confronting physicians and patients across Canada.

You will support and inspire a skilled and dedicated leadership team, collaborate closely with many partner organizations including governments, and support an engaged and committed Board of Directors.

As the ideal candidate, you have the skills, experience, and adaptive capacity to lead a dynamic organization in a dynamic setting.

You are strategic and transformative with the systems thinking and foresight to position the CMA for the future. Human-centered, you model the CMA’s values and exemplify inclusion, equity, trust, humility, and resilience.

You appreciate the importance of diverse perspectives, sound governance, transparent decision making, and the respective roles of the leadership team, staff, and Board.

Your managerial and financial instincts, acumen, and capacity to make decisions in a complex business and social enterprise will serve you well, as will your ability and commitment to converse proficiently in English and French.

Externally, you are known to be a trusted, influential, and respected advocate and partner who builds meaningful relationships.

Internally, you are a prudent, savvy, and consultative administrator with experience in business, non-profit, health administration, or a related field.

If you are a qualified candidate interested in redefining healthcare and delivering on CMA’s mission, vision, and strategy, apply in confidence to Leslie Feldman () or click here : .

The CMA and the CMA Group of Companies (CMA Foundation and CMA Impact) are committed to accommodating employees with disabilities, accessibility needs, and other protected human rights characteristics, to the point of undue hardship.

Any candidate requiring accommodation is encouraged to make their needs known.

Reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion are key priorities, and the CMA enterprise actively strives to build a culture where all employees can be their authentic selves and are valued for their diverse personal experiences and perspectives.

We welcome and encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds and a variety of lived experiences to apply.
