In the Region of Peel there are over 260 active programs providing over 160,000 children access to nutritious and healthy meals. Participation in student nutrition programs is associated with positive educational outcomes including improved academic performance, reduced tardiness and improved student behaviour. The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) provides funding for programs to purchase food, equipment and provide administrative support. The role of the YMCA of Greater Toronto is to work with the Peel Student Nutrition Programs to ensure financial sustainability, assist in program reporting and data collection, and conduct assessments to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of each program.
The Student Nutrition Program Team Leader will assist the Director in providing leadership, collaboration and supervision to the Student Nutrition Programs across the Region of Peel. The position is accountable in the Director’s absence.
