Position Summary...
Data Privacy Analyst is a key participant in the alignment, requirements gathering and implementation of the Data Strategy for WMCA, providing direct support of data related efforts across the entire organization in the privacy space. Working with the Data Privacy Product Manager, Privacy Office, through routine touchpoints and reporting, this role will operationalize privacy-relevant standards. processes and requirements. This role will have direct accountability driving the requirements required for the following products : data privacy, centralized consent management, customer and associate master data, and data subject access requests. This position will also have a hand in maturing data literacy, and improvement of tracking and controlling Walmart Canada PI data across applications.
More data exists about each of us than ever before. This data holds the key to a lot of value when consent is given, but its utility must never come at the expense of people's privacy. There is a complex ecosystem where the privacy landscape is undergoing rapid and constant change, and with this change comes a huge opportunity to rebuild to protect user privacy in Walmart.

What you'll do...
In your role you will sit at the intersection of engineering, data governance, WMCA Privacy to address data handling policies, as well as legislative obligations and regulatory guidance, and our customers & associates. You will bring these stakeholders together on this product-level mission where privacy is a first-class consideration.
Your role in shaping the future of data privacy...
Translate requirements set by the Privacy Office (based on WMCA policy, Quebec's Bill 64, Bill C-27, OPC Guidance, etc.) into actionable business and technology solutions to help our customers understand and adapt to privacy-focused technology changes.
Help establish, enhance and then lead the 'evergreen' process for ensuring the following is complete and up to date for new and existing applications in Walmart holding Canadian data :
Data Mapping Assessments
Application Portfolio Management
Privacy Impact Assessments
EPRA
Research and prepare guidance of the business impact of proposed changes in data privacy laws and practice and the implications within the technology space.
Update data mapping questionnaires within OneTrust, (re)issue for relevant applications team to complete and perform analysis on the results to guide decisions and next steps.
Respond to internal and external ad hoc privacy queries.
Partner with privacy, legal, product marketing, security, and other teams across the company to identify and educate on potential privacy challenges, and drive towards pragmatic solutions.
Bias toward action and urgency, especially when faced with emerging threats or ambiguous situations that require making
We'd especially love to hear from you if you have :
Minimum 3-year relevant work experience in privacy, regulation or compliance;
Relevant degree and Data Privacy qualification
Experience with OneTrust modules :

Sound knowledge of data protection laws and practices including an in-depth understanding of Bill-64 / Law 25, PIPEDA, emerging privacy regulations both federally and provincially, GDPR in Europe and CCPA in the US, as well as a reasonable understanding of data protection policies.
Inquisitive, self-starter who can work autonomously as well as part of a team
Excellent analytic skills and detail-oriented approach to issues and analyses;
Identifies issues and takes proactive action to solve problems, including adjusting to changing priorities as necessary;
Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish partnerships and manage internal and external relationship
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
Experience in and around consumer privacy and security—particularly with privacy-preserving strategies like encryption, data minimization, consent, data retention.
Identifying and escalating risks to non-compliance, negotiating and establishing remediation efforts and working through risk vs. reward deliberations.
Background / previous work experience in the retail space is an asset.
