Freelance Estimator – Demolition, Abatement & Construction (Project-Based) Ottawa, Ontario (Local applicants only) – Remote / Flexible with occasional site visits Project-Based | Base Fee + Commission (To Be Discussed)We’re a demolition and abatement company working on residential, commercial, and industrial projects across the Ottawa region. We’re looking for a local freelance estimator to join us on a project-by-project basis (base fee with commission), preparing accurate estimates and proposals for demolition, abatement, and occasional construction-related scopes.This role is not for someone who only understands estimating on paper. You must have extensive field or on-site experience — you should know how long tasks take in real conditions, what tools and materials are actually used, and what it takes to complete a project from the ground up.Estimating and liaising / negotiating with clients requires firsthand knowledge of local material requirements, labour productivity, and site conditions. If you've worked on site, understand production rates, and can communicate confidently about scopes, you might be a great fit.What You’ll Do : Review project drawings, specs, and documentationPerform accurate takeoffs for demolition, abatement, and related scopesEstimate labour, material, and equipment based on real-world site experienceBuild clear, professional cost estimates and proposalsCoordinate with vendors and subs to gather local pricingSupport pricing and negotiation strategy with the ownerOccasionally attend site visits for scoping and validationWhat You Bring : 5+ years of experience in demolition and / or abatement estimatingExtensive field / on-site experience is requiredStrong knowledge of tools, materials, and on-site production ratesAbility to read and interpret blueprints and servicing plansExperience estimating full residential demolition and / or servicing work is an assetExcellent attention to detail and communication skillsMust be based in Ottawa or surrounding areaSelf-motivated, reliable, and able to work independentlyAccess to your own estimating tools / softwareCompensation : Base fee + commission (to be discussed)Flexible schedule, project-basedLong-term potential as we grow our estimating capacity
