Yorkville Sound is a Canadian manufacturer of professional audio equipment with a 60-year history of designing and building reliable products for musicians, venues, and commercial customers. Our products under the Yorkville, Traynor, and ART brands are developed and manufactured in our vertically integrated facility in Pickering, Ontario. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a leading role in the design and development of our next generation of hardware products.
About the Role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will own significant portions of product designs from concept through to production. You will work on systems such as powered loudspeakers, amplifiers, signal processors, and related hardware, in close collaboration with mechanical, acoustic, firmware, and manufacturing teams. The role combines circuit design, system‑level thinking, practical lab work, and support for production. You will also contribute to mentoring less‑experienced engineers, and help set technical direction within the group.
Responsibilities
- Lead or support the design of analog, digital, and mixed‑signal circuits for audio products
- Design and review switch‑mode power supplies, power amplifiers, and DSP‑based hardware as appropriate to the project
- Take designs from concept through schematic, PCB, prototype, verification, and transfer to manufacturing
- Conduct and oversee testing, including performance, reliability, and compliance tests
- Work with mechanical, acoustic, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure products are manufacturable, robust, and cost‑effective
- Investigate field and production issues; implement and validate corrective actions
- Produce clear design documentation, including specifications, test plans, and engineering reports
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technologists within the team
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalentTypically 5+ years of experience in electronic hardware design, ideally in product development for manufactured goodsDemonstrated experience taking designs from concept to productionStrong background in analog and digital circuit designProficiency with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium or similar) and standard lab instrumentsFamiliarity with EMI / EMC, safety, and regulatory considerations for commercial productsPractical, hands‑on approach; comfortable working with prototypes, fixtures, and production hardwareClear technical communication skills, both written and verbalEligible to work in Canada and able to work on‑site in Pickering, ONPreferred Experience (assets)
