We are seeking an intellectually curious self-starter to join our team as a Tax Manager. This is a hybrid role, offering flexibility while allowing you to work closely with a dynamic team.
Skills - Must Have :
- Canadian CPA Designation
- Enrolled in or completed the CPA In-Depth Tax course
- 3+ years of current Canadian Tax experience at a CPA firm in Canada
- 3+ years of experience in Canadian Tax, including consulting, planning, compliance, returns, and reorganizations for individuals, corporations, trusts, and partnerships
- Experience managing a team within a CPA firm
- Ability to work hybrid at the Toronto office
Responsibilities :
Develop and implement tax planning strategies for a variety of clientsResearch tax issues and prepare clear and concise research memorandaIdentify and implement tax planning opportunities, including tax reorganizations, estate plans, and post-mortem tax planningAssist senior staff with corporate tax initiativesStay up-to-date with tax codes, regulations, and other technical informationDelegate tasks to staff to ensure timely delivery of client projects within budgetCommunicate with tax authorities to explain client positions and resolve assessmentsKeep senior managers / partners informed of task progress and work to meet time budgetsPrepare complex tax returns, forms, and tax electionsWrite external publications, blog posts, and memorandaPresent on tax topics internally and externallyMentor and guide junior members of the tax teamParticipate in firm promotion events to increase awareness of servicesQualifications :
University degreeCompletion or near completion of the In-Depth Tax program OR a Masters of Taxation program, or CPAAt least four years of practical experience in public practiceExceptional technical skills with attention to detailAbility to multitask and work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on client serviceStrong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skillsPositive team contributor, with the ability to work independently when requiredComputer Skills :
Proficient with Caseware / CaseviewFamiliar with tax applications like Taxprep, CCH Intelliconnect, Taxnet Pro, Tax Find, etc.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook)Key Competencies :
