The Role

We're seeking a hands-on Tech Lead to own our technical strategy, architecture, and roadmaps. You'll translate product vision into scalable, high-performance systems, thoughtfully integrating AI where it adds real value, and serve as a key mentor to grow our engineering team.Importantly, this is a coding-heavy role : 50-60% of your time will be hands-on development of complex features, such as advanced physics-based simulations, real-time data pipelines, and large-scale data aggregation.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive technical strategy, system architecture, and roadmaps in collaboration with founders and stakeholders.
• Lead design reviews, mentor on advanced engineering, and evaluate emerging tools.
• Design and implement scalable backend systems, with heavy emphasis on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Spend 50-60% of time coding critical features (e.g., real-time processing, simulation engines, data integration).
• Integrate AI / ML effectively (e.g., for predictive modeling, anomaly detection, or optimization).
• Balance trade-offs, mitigate risks, and guide priorities aligned with business goals.
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and foster best practices in code quality and testing.
• Collaborate closely with founders, operations, and developers to deliver high-impact software powering sustainable marine solutions.
