About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity to join the LP‑7 Operations team in Prentiss (AB, CAN) as an Associate Operator . LP‑7 is a Gas Phase Polyethylene facility that produces more than 65 types of high‑density polyethylene and linear low‑density polyethylene, used in everyday products such as plastic containers, bottle caps, cable insulation and toys. LP‑7 will be retrofitted in the years ahead to support the Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero project, diversifying the product mix, debottlenecking existing plant capacity and enhancing hydrocarbon recovery to reduce CO₂ emissions.

The purpose of this Associate Operator job is to operate assigned equipment or areas of the plant and perform operations related activities per the work process, utilizing chemical manufacturing knowledge to operate and troubleshoot the plant safely and efficiently. This is a 24‑hour operation that requires working 12‑hour shifts during the day and night on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities

• Follow Operating Discipline policies, principles, procedures, standards and practices to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
• Operate and field‑check process equipment, monitor process conditions, key performance metrics, equipment and control systems, and make appropriate decisions to maintain desired rates and conditions aligned with Plant / Site / Business goals.
• Perform scheduled operational and related tasks and tasks that arise as a result of resolving unplanned events.
• Work with shift team members and other shift teams to balance workload and ensure tasks are completed by due dates.
• Conduct effective shift relief, as defined in facility specific operating discipline and tools, to ensure effective communication and handoff to arriving shift team.
• Maintain qualification in assigned areas, per facility policy, and complete training goals in a timely manner.
• Mentor and train new and existing operations personnel on process operation, troubleshooting and the use of operating discipline in alignment to plant's training process.
• Perform Immediate Response activities, as assigned.
• Initiate and document preliminary investigations according to plant specific process / criteria and participate in formal and informal Root Cause Investigations for events involved in or by request.
• Track and utilize the plant's key performance metrics on shift to optimize operations and identify improvement opportunities, proactively identifying improvements and opportunities using the facility improvement processes, appropriate management of change processes and communication tools.
• Perform Autonomous Maintenance, including minor repairs and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate policies, procedures, processes and disciplines.
• Participate in Emergency Response Team program.
