Job Overview
This position undertakes a broad range of HR-related responsibilities and is a critical partner within the HR team. This position is involved in every aspect of the employee life cycle and provides a wide range of activities and support to many programs and processes including talent acquisition, talent management, employee engagement, performance management, employee development and training, employee relations, compensation, policy development and general administration. This role must be well-versed in employment laws and standards, and compliance. The Sr. Generalist will also be involved with HR project management and participate in several operational priorities in support of enhancing business results and driving performance.
Shift : 5x2- Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Key Job Responsibilities
- Serves as the first point of contact for supporting employees and managers with queries and provides guidance with employee relations and HR policies and procedures
- Partners closely with HR Managers and performance leaders across the organization on initiatives including managing job descriptions, creating job requisitions / approvals to hire, and preparing and presenting offer letters to successful candidates
- Facilitates the full employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding ensuring a positive employee experience including provisioning of resources, coordination of introductory meetings and employee pulse checks, performing exit interviews and managing various other employee programs
- Ensures the data integrity and consistency of HR employee transactions utilizing a variety of HRIS systems
- Acts as next level support for pension and benefits administration, and vacation management when required by the team
- Initiates discussions with HR Managers to identify areas for improvement and opportunities across processes, practices, and programs
- Takes ownership of keeping up to date on company policies and procedures and proactively identifies opportunities to revise, edit, and communicate practices, policies and procedures including related support documents as needed
- Ensures compliance with changing provincial legislation and alignment with organizational objectives to minimize business risks
- Coordinates employee fringe benefit plans through finance / payroll, including health and wellness, employee referrals, and education tuition reimbursements
- Coordinates semi-annual HR performance cycles in collaboration with HR Manager’s and the team
- Partners with HR managers to coordinate the facilitation of corporate training
- Drives the process for ensuring compliance with averaging agreements / variance arrangements for provinces across Canada
- Produces people metrics / reporting, when required

Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or combination of formal education and experience in Human ResourcesMinimum of 5+ years of progressive HR experienceKnowledge of all functional HR areas including employee relations, employment law, recruiting, performance management, compensation, benefits, program and process management, and employee developmentDemonstrated ability to collaborate with and develop effective relationships with all levels of employee stakeholders including managementStrong HR administration skills with a demonstrated ability to coordinate and prioritize numerous activities in a deadline orientated environmentIntermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookStrong analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent written and oral communication skillsHas a dependable “can-do” attitude with enthusiasm for innovation and process improvementBrings an elevated energy to the team in pursuit of operational excellenceKnowledge of SAP Success Factors is an assetPrevious work experience in the mining, manufacturing, or energy sector is a plusWorking towards CPHR designation is an asset10 to 20% travel is required
