Pursuing its strategy in matter of Interiors design development, Alstom is now deploying its Interiors Development Center (CDS) for the Americas Region in its St-Bruno, Canada Site, complementing the Sites of Bangalore, India and Valenciennes, France. Each center has its own multidisciplinary Team of Expert Engineers, technicians, buyers, quality, industrial, Project Management, all specialized in Interiors domains. Their mission is to develop the Interiors Products of the future and to execute the projects they are responsible for, from the Tenders and up to the delivery of materials to the assembly line.
Could you be the full-time hybrid Lighting Product Engineer in Saint-Bruno, QC, CA we’re looking for?
Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your comprehensive system engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside innovative, dedicated, and collaborative teammates. You'll contribute significantly to the advancement of interior lighting systems in transportation, enhancing passenger experience and safety. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as Train Control Engineers, Software Engineers, and RAMS / ILS Engineers), manage and ensure the integration and performance of lighting systems, and much more. As the Lighting Product Engineer of the new Interiors Development Site (CDS), you will be accountable for the interiors parts engineering of lighting system : passenger area lighting, cabin lighting, front end lighting and will be a lighting products referent in Alstom.
We’ll look to you for :
Defining lighting architecture, function, design, according to budget, internals and externals requirements.
Defining with Train Control / Train System network topologies, functional schematics and communications solutions to meet the customer requirements.
Managing requirements from Métier document, standards, safety rules, cybersecurity rules, reliability, maintenance, software, network, customer specification.
Managing, ensuring and guaranteeing the consistency and compatibility of lighting system between suppliers and integration to reach expected performance.
Ensuring complete implementation and functional verification of all system requirements
Collaborating with specialists from cross-functional disciplines, like : train control engineer, software engineer, RAMS / ILS engineer, train electrical engineer, train performance engineer, train design engineer, metier engineer
Defining Technical Specifications for lighting system
Technically leading supplier development of the whole system design from conceptual solution to serial production phase according to Design For Quality (DFQ) cycle
Writing documentation for customer and, on request, participate in technical reviews with customer.
Defining the Lighting system validation plan, validated tests procedures from supplier and follow-up the type tests
Participate to mock-up realizations and validation
Support to First Article Inspections at suppliers’ premises and train tests

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (required)
System Engineering experience or related technical discipline (required)
Skills in electronic or lighting system definition (required)
Member of OIQ (Professional Engineers), desirable
Experience with railway vehicle systems integration and application
Experience with railway vehicle networking and communications solutions
Knowledge of optical systems, low voltage technology, and functional diagrams & schematics
Ability to prioritize and to work effectively under pressure to meet the deadline
Rigorous and autonomous, with the ability to analyse subjects in detail and restitute them clearly
Ability to manage suppliers
Ability to work in an international environment and matrix organization structure
Effective communication skills in French (desirable) & English
