Our Client

Our client is the Canadian Branch of a full-stack global bank. The group has more than 130 offices spread across 40 offices worldwide.

The North American division offers commercial and investment banking services to its corporate and institutional clients.

We have partnered with the bank to work on a net new role, Vice President, Treasury Controls within their Treasury department.

Position Overview

This role is responsible for control design and monitoring support for all the Bank’s business lines. The Vice President will support the Business Control Office (BCO) management team to develop appropriate front office controls, and design and execute a control monitoring program to ensure the company maintains a strong control environment within the front office.

This position will also be responsible for control and process mapping related to priority areas of focus, especially in Treasury and will assist with the design and execution of control effectiveness assessments.

Role Responsibilities :

• Control design to manage risks and front-to-back processes impacting the front office business lines.
• Developing a sustainable control monitoring plan to be executed by the BCO team.
• Implement and execute control monitoring activities for Canada Branch including in RCSA, issue management & remediation and control testing.
• Identify and monitor existing controls in Treasury Department to ensure stable and solid operation including ALM (Asset Liability Management) control.
• Provide data and feedback on findings and recommendations for new control and process enhancements.
• Assist with designing the control effectiveness assessment model and executing the assessment review.
• Identify other areas of control weaknesses and process inefficiencies within Canada Branch that may need enhancement.
• Provide strategic support to Treasury and oversight of day to day treasury activities including limits utilization.
• Participate in Funding and Liquidity management strategy with Front Office.
• Lead scenario design and modelling of risk.

Desired Qualifications :

• Undergraduate degree in any discipline (Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering). MBA preferred.
• 7+ year experience in data management, data analytics, trend analysis and report production.
• 10 years previous banking experience, primarily in Treasury, FX & Money Markets and ALM (Asset Liability Management).
• Expertise in control frameworks, control assessment and control monitoring programs.
• Expertise in process and control design, including process mapping and process reengineering.
• Exceptional communication (both written and verbal) and time management ability.
• Experience interacting with senior management within a business environment.
• Knowledge of the banking, risk management, market business and products.
• Expertise in MS applications, Market vendor application and project management software.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
