Wood is recruiting for an Intermediate Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer to join its Canadian business focusing on projects across the Mining & Minerals sector. This position is located in either our Vancouver BC, Trail BC, Saskatoon SK, or Burlington ON offices.

The Role

Reporting to the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Department Manager, and working alongside other team members locally and across the country, you will be responsible for the review and development of the instrumentation and control designs required on detailed engineering projects; it also includes signing documents as a Professional Engineer. This is a full time position.

  • Competitive salary with regular salary reviews to ensure we are rewarding at the right level in line with the market. Salary range for this position is CAD $96,000 – 117,000 per year. Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role.

Expected:

  • Electrical Engineering (BSc) degree with specializations or experience in instrumentation / controls
  • Must be a Professional Engineer ( in the province of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, or Ontario or have the ability to register as one within approximately 3 months of hire. (PE in the US is an asset)
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience; primarily responsible for supporting I&C engineering consulting projects for mining, metallurgical or similar process industries.
  • Knowledge of CSA, ISA and IEEE standards including the Canadian Electrical Code and how to apply them to designs.
  • Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required.
  • Database experience is considered an asset (AVEVA Instrumentation and/or SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI)).
  • Working knowledge of 2D and 3D software is considered an asset (AutoCAD, AVEVA E3D)
