Electrical Designer

• Design electrical systems for solar PV hybrid (Solar Grid Diesel) and battery energy storage applications;
• Perform advanced AC and DC system calculations including:
  • Load flow analysis
  • Cable sizing and voltage drop
  • Protection coordination and device selection
  • Battery autonomy and lifecycle modelling
• Develop detailed single-line diagrams wiring schematics grounding layouts panel and cabinet layouts;
• Support present and future grid-connected / utility-interactive system interconnection requirements;
• Assist in the design and application of transformers switchgear and LV/MV distribution equipment;
• Support the integration of protection and control PLC SCADA and monitoring systems;
• Prepare equipment specifications datasheets Bills of Material (BOMs) and material take-offs;
• Review and coordinate vendor technical submissions and engineering documentation;
• Participate in technical evaluation of suppliers technologies and design options;
• Contribute to proposal development RFP technical documentation and estimating support;
• Support FAT SAT and commissioning activities as required;
• Conduct site visits and technical assessments;
• Prepare design reports calculation summaries and as-built documentation;
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with codes standards and client expectations;
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to knowledge development within the team;
• Support continuous improvement of engineering tools templates and workflows.

Qualifications :

• Bachelors degree in Electrical engineering (or equivalent);
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in:
  • Solar PV or hybrid power systems
  • Battery storage / DC systems
  • AC power distribution or utility-connected power systems
• Demonstrated experience preparing SLDs wiring diagrams panel layouts and system documentation;
• Strong understanding of:
  • AC & DC electrical distribution
  • Grounding & bonding practices
  • Transformers & switchgear
  • Protection & control principles
• Experience with AutoCAD / EPLAN or equivalent;
• Familiarity with CEC CSA IEC IEEE standards (asset);
• Experience working with utilities EPCs or industrial clients (asset);
• Strong written interpersonal and technical communication skills;
• Ability to manage priorities across multiple projects;
• Professional Engineer () eligibility is an asset;
• Being bilingual (French and English) is considered a strong asset.
