Are you hands-on, detail-oriented, and interested in working outdoors while contributing to the management of essential municipal infrastructure? The Municipal District of Taber (MDT) is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as temporary Asset Management Technicians. This six-month position (April to September 2026) supports the MDT’s Asset Management Team by collecting and validating critical asset data used to inform planning, maintenance, and long-term infrastructure decision-making.
Position Overview
The Asset Management Technician is responsible for conducting field-based condition assessments and capturing accurate asset information across the Municipal District of Taber. This role plays a key part in supporting MDT’s asset management priorities through reliable data collection and collaboration with internal teams. Reporting to the Asset Management Coordinator, your responsibilities will include :
Field Data Collection : Locate and document municipal assets, including culverts, roadways, hamlet utilities, and other infrastructure assets.
Condition Assessments : Assess and record asset conditions in accordance with established standards, guidelines, and documentation requirements.
GIS and Technology Use : Utilize ArcGIS Field Maps and other GIS / GPS tools to collect, update, and maintain accurate asset data within MDT systems.
Travel and Field Work : Travel throughout the MD of Taber using municipal vehicles and equipment to complete assigned fieldwork safely and efficiently.
Team Collaboration and Reporting : Use existing GIS systems for reference and planning, provide regular progress updates, and work collaboratively with the Asset Management Team to meet project timelines and objectives.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in an asset management program or a related field.
Experience with field data collection, GIS applications, or infrastructure-related work is preferred.
Familiarity with ArcGIS Field Maps, GPS tools, or similar technology is an asset.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow standardized assessment procedures.
Ability to work in a field-based environment while maintaining effective communication with team members.
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license.
