The Opportunity

You will be collaborating with and reporting to the Business Development Operations Manager School of Professional & Part-time Learning. As a member of the faculty team you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; delivering individualized instruction and adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse academic needs; building and sustaining professional relationships with students colleagues community partners and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses may include but may not be limited to:

• Film Industry Orientation: Grip & Electric.
• Lighting Fundamentals.
• Grip Fundamentals.
• Apply common guidelines and standards for proper set etiquette while working in the grip and lighting department.
• Operate HMI LED and tungsten fixtures safely including powering and transportation.
• Execute fundamental responsibilities of the grip department including diffusion frames dolly track basic rope and knot work and physical support to the camera department.

Education & Experience:

• A minimum of three (3) years of recent professional film industry experience in the Grip and/or Lighting (Electric) departments (e.g. Grip Best Boy Grip Gaffer Lighting Technician).
• Experience must include handson work with industrystandard lighting fixtures (tungsten LED HMI) grip equipment dolly track setup rigging and onset workflow.
• Demonstrated knowledge of filmset etiquette safety protocols and department workflow including proper use of equipment working at heights power distribution and safe handling of lighting and grip gear.
• A working knowledge of MS Office or equivalent digital tools for managing instructional materials schedules and assessments.
• Familiarity with the Atlantic Canada/NB film production environment including union expectations (e.g. IATSE 849) is considered an asset.

• Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a post-secondary environment.

• Candidate must possess a valid drivers license as occasional travel within the province may be required.

• Experience with adult education and correctional facilities is highly valued.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
