Job Description
Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel is seeking a Part‑time Maintenance Technician. Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor / Manager, the Technician will perform, manage and prioritize all assigned maintenance work. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting / drywall repair, HVAC systems, water supply and treatment, and good housekeeping practices. A safe work attitude is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Excellent internal and external customer service at all times.
- Perform carpentry duties : assemble / repair broken equipment or furniture, install shelving / cabinets, hang photos, and perform minor building projects.
- Maintain current casino building schematics.
- Perform minor plumbing duties : inspect / replace broken or defective pipes, repair minor water leaks, unclog drains.
- Perform minor electrical duties : daily inspection of interior / exterior lighting, install outlets, fixtures, bulbs.
- Minor painting and / or drywall repairs as required.
- Inspect heating and air conditioning systems.
- Perform daily inspections of pumps and periodic purification / testing of main water supply system and sewage treatment plant.
- Perform snow removal, salt walkways, grass cutting, and waste disposal as needed.
- Report deficiencies and recommend corrective action to Facilities Supervisor / Manager.
- Act as a liaison for outside service contractors, ensuring health & safety compliance.
- Report hazards or health and safety contraventions immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor / Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years experience in maintenance in a commercial environment.High School diploma or equivalent.Valid trade certificate (Building Maintenance Mechanic, Electrician, Plumber, Carpenter, Millwright).WHMIS Certified.Water and wastewater treatment certification preferred.Previous casino maintenance experience preferred.Hypochlorination certification required.Experience in all maintenance repair areas including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, drywall, and painting.Class G driver’s licence with a good driver abstract.Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, WHMIS, National Fire Code and OHSA Industrial Regulations preferred.Knowledge of commercial HVAC operation and maintenance.Operating knowledge of building automation and control systems.Knowledge of fire and life safety equipment including sprinkler systems, electronic detection systems and related valves and pumps.Ability to work in a team environment and independently.Ability to work in confined spaces, ladders and elevated devices.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Must pass a criminal record and credit check through the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).Work Schedule
Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays and overnights. Hours will be based on operational needs.
