Responsibilities
- Evaluation and reduction of casting defects / failures, rework, scrap, and addressing quality issues across all manufacturing areas.
- Root cause analysis and corrective action to ensure robust processes and repeatable casting quality.
- Collaboration with process engineering, product engineering, and manufacturing teams during product development, production implementation, and data collection.
- Technical oversight in assigned areas of materials, testing labs, and special processes, including calibration, operation, customer / industry specification reviews, and technical manufacturing flow‑down implementation.
- Support quality and engineering teams on customer complaints, returns, and improvement activities, including rework, scrap, and non‑conformance analysis.
- Development and implementation of best practices in wax, shell, foundry, welding, and heat treat departments.
- Process management including document control, implementation, monitoring of process controls, daily input / output reviews, and correction of significant or unacceptable variation.
- Analysis and characterization of casting defects.
- Maintenance and approval of technical process instructions and procedures critical to finished product quality.
- Leadership of research & development projects : planning, scheduling, pilot‑scale setups, sample preparation, testing, data collection and analysis.
- Daily and weekly sample collection and laboratory testing in manufacturing areas, including miscellaneous laboratory or in‑plant experiments.
- Selection and approval of substitute or new raw materials.
- Ensuring operating performance of critical casting process equipment and tools, including upgrades or new equipment selection.
- Conducting quality and process system audits.
- Delivering training on assigned process techniques, casting procedures, and critical health and safety practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, specializing in Metallurgy (asset).Minimum 10 years of experience in metal manufacturing.Experience with aluminum casting (asset).Proficiency in data collection and analytics.Six Sigma knowledge.High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Additional Information
Shift : Monday to Friday, 6 : 30 am to 3 : 00 pm.
Salary Range : $75,000 to $95,000.
