This Opportunity
The District Principal of Digital Learning and
Innovation will play a pivotal role in advancing the district’s vision for
digital learning, AI integration, and educational innovation. This leadership
role involves spearheading the development, implementation, and ongoing
optimization of digital learning strategies across the district. The District
Principal will support the integration of cutting-edge technology, blended
learning approaches, and modern pedagogical practices, while also overseeing
the evolution of Library Learning Commons and the strategic use of digital
resources. The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking leader with expertise
in educational technology, curriculum development, and professional learning.
In this role, you will be at the forefront of educational transformation, driving the district’s digital learning initiatives and shaping the future of learning for both students and educators. You will work alongside a dynamic team committed to innovation, collaboration, and continuous growth, all while having a direct impact on the educational experiences of our students.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead the ongoing development and integration of digital learning approaches across the district, ensuring alignment with district-wide educational goals and initiatives.
Oversee the integration of digital platforms and resources, including tools like MS Teams, MyEdBC, School AI, SeeSaw, and BookCreator, to enhance teaching and learning.
Collaborate with district departments and schools to ensure seamless and effective adoption of digital resources and innovative practices.
Play a leading role in shaping and implementing the district’s AI strategy, with a focus on selecting tools, providing training, and ensuring robust security measures.
Ensure that AI tools are used thoughtfully and ethically to enhance both student and staff learning experiences.
Work closely with Abbotsford Virtual School to promote and expand the use of blended learning strategies across schools.
Support schools in leveraging digital platforms to deliver high-quality, flexible learning experiences to all students.
Support the evolution and modernization of Library Learning Commons, ensuring they serve as dynamic, technology-enhanced hubs for student and teacher learning.
Manage the selection, design, and delivery of professional development for Library Learning Commons teachers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Supervise and support Library Technicians in areas such as recruitment, professional development, performance management, and labor relations.
Foster a collaborative, growth-oriented environment for staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality service to the district.
Design and deliver ongoing professional learning opportunities for educators focused on integrating technology, innovation, and modern pedagogy.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging staff to embrace new technologies and teaching practices.
Qualifications :
A Master’s degree in Curriculum, Educational Leadership, Educational Technology, or a related field.
Extensive experience in educational technology, curriculum development, and instructional leadership.
Proven track record of successfully leading the integration of technology in educational settings and fostering deep learning for both students and educators.
Experience with learning management systems (LMS), virtual classroom software, and other digital learning platforms.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships with school leaders, district staff, and external stakeholders.
Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, applying innovative solutions to complex challenges in digital learning and educational technology.
A proven ability to lead change, manage projects, and drive initiatives that promote educational excellence.
Experience in educational administration and leadership is an asset.
Familiarity with the BC Digital Classroom and other provincial resources is a plus.
