How You Will Make an Impact
- Support cis women, trans, and non-binary individuals who have experienced gender-based violence and are navigating the legal system.
- Support and assist individuals in accessing resources and understanding their rights.
- Advocate for a legal system that is responsive and accountable to those who have experienced gender-based / intimate partner violence.
- Provide respectful, appropriate, and culturally competent services to diverse and marginalized communities.
- Work effectively to address the systemic barriers faced by women, trans, non-binary, and gender-fluid individuals within the legal system.
- Plan, attend, and support public education initiatives and community events.
- Collaborate with co-workers to plan and facilitate group activities internally.
- Responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Completed post-secondary education in social justice, criminology, law and / or legal studies is requiredThorough knowledge of issues such as gender-based violence, intimate partner violence, mental health, substance use and harm reductionThorough knowledge of the criminal justice system, domestic violence legislation in the Criminal Code, Immigration systems, Family law and the Family court systemA minimum of two years' experience working with individuals who have experienced gender-based violence is required.CPR / 1st Aid is requiredA valid Ontario Driver's License is requiredExcellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, public speaking, and advocacy skills are required.Ability to speak French and / or other languages considered an assetCommitted to anti-racist / anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good ShepherdWhat We Offer
