Job description

Dedicated exclusively to children and their families, The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is one of the largest and most respected paediatric healthcare centres in the world. As innovators in child health, we lead and partner to improve the health of children through the integration of healthcare, leading‑edge research and education. Our reputation would not be built – nor could it be maintained – without the extraordinary people who work here every day. SickKids is committed to ongoing learning and development and features a caring, supportive environment that combines exceptionally high standards of practice.

Division Head, Haematology‑Oncology

We invite a full‑time, permanent faculty appointment as Division Head, Haematology Oncology at the Hospital for Sick Children, 555 University Ave., Toronto, ON. The Division offers a comprehensive subspecialty residency/fellowship program, attracts Canadian and international trainees, and hosts specialized fellowships in early phase trials, neuro‑oncology, cancer genetics, survivorship, and stem‑cell transplantation/cellular therapy. Our interprofessional team provides comprehensive care across haematology, stem‑cell transplant/cellular therapies, leukemia/lymphoma, solid tumour, and neuro‑oncology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the Division’s faculty and trainees, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Collaborate with allied health and nursing partners and innovate with scientists at the Research Institute.
  • Champion clinical services, education and research to advance our cancer and haematology programs.
  • Support the expansion of specialised clinical services and provide opportunities for translational and basic research.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and steward of philanthropic funds, influencing the Division’s vision and guiding the Garron Family Cancer Centre (GFCC).
  • Align academic activities with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Qualifications

  • Leadership and mentoring experience with a demonstrated track record in academic and research excellence.
  • MD, MBBS or equivalent, and certification or eligibility for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario; must also be able to function proficiently in English.
  • Eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto.
  • Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications (US$425,000–$525,000 per annum); additional leadership stipend and benefits package may apply.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Medical, dental, life, long‑term disability and vision care insurance.
  • Group insurance, pension plan, academic allowance and relocation package.

Application Instructions

Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, a statement of research, education and clinical contribution, and names and addresses of three references no later than 16 January 2026 to Dr. Meredith Irwin, Professor and Chair, Department of Paediatrics, The Hospital for Sick Children, 555 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario Canada M5G 1X8: catherine.limshue@sickkids.ca.
